People in TV are not ordinary.
They are Extraordinary.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, a single message was sent out in September 2022, posing a simple yet powerful question: “What can we do to make things better?” The response was overwhelming. Within a mere six hours, 400 people had already joined a WhatsApp group, and within a day, that number had doubled to reach 700 members across two groups. Within a week, the group had grown to over 1000 members, united in their shared goal to better represent the needs of those working in outside broadcast. By standing together, we aim to address the concerning trend of negative experiences that have become all too common in this sector of the television industry.
We are here to work together to improve the conditions in the industry we all love.
BECTU is the largest sector of the Prospect union with 46,000 of the 147,000 members. Such numbers give us a voice and there has never been a greater need to use that voice as members find their budgets squeezed from both ends.
