The Bectu OB branch is continually working on issues affecting our members across the industry.
We recognise that branch members do not always hear about this work while it is happening. Some issues involve ongoing discussions with employers, Bectu officials or other organisations. Additionally, there may be periods when there is little we can usefully or appropriately communicate.
We are currently looking at how we can improve communication between the OB branch and our membership. Additionally, we will update members on this once we have a clearer plan in place.
In the meantime, this page will highlight some issues currently being pursued by the Branch.
It will be updated as appropriate.
Current Issues
Timeline Television – Late Payments
The Branch continues to receive reports from members regarding late payment of invoices by Timeline Television.
This is an issue the Branch has raised previously and we are currently engaging with Bectu officials and Timeline to seek improvements. In particular, we are pressing for greater reliability around payment timescales and better communication with freelancers when payments are delayed.
We will update members when we have further information to share.
Everton FC – Shorts / Hot Weather Working
The Branch has raised concerns regarding restrictions on crew wearing shorts while working at Everton FC, particularly in relation to working in hot weather.
We have raised the health and safety implications of the policy and are continuing to pursue the issue.
Other Branch Work
These are only some of the matters currently being worked on by the Branch. Other issues are often being dealt with on behalf of individual members or groups of members and may not always be appropriate to publish publicly.
If there is an issue affecting you or something you think the Branch should be aware of, please get in touch with us.
